I have only read 5 pages, but it seems to have been enough.
IMO.... I think Kerfira's figures may be correct. All the detractors could simply attemp the missions he has listed, using the methods he has used, and see the net result. In short, test his data. I don't think he could have been any more specific as to how he has run these missions, there must be one detractor out there with roughly the same skills and ability to run a golem who could simply run WC the same way he has and then see if you net 70 ish mil vs 45 ... at least Kerfira's methods are testable ... your opinion that he's full of **** is not, back it up with your own data, not an opinion. You could have proved him wrong 9 pages ago...
Kerfira misses the point, and in fact I think he is proving the argument that there is nothing wrong with the current lvl 4 missions. ( which is the opposite of what he is trying to prove)
This game exists to make CCP and their stockholders real life money. This is the bottom line. Period.
CCP makes EVE and has roughly 280 000 subscribers paying an average of .. lets say $14 per month.
thats about $4 million a month
People state that 90% of EVE players run missions - lets use the figure of 75% - that means $3 mil per month in money to CCP from mission runners.
Lvl 4 Mission running is a long term investment, about 18 months to get to your torp golem leet ship
thats $252 dollars from players per account, and about 5-6 billion in iskys required for ships, skills, losses, and whatever incidentals in that time period. If 75% of the subscription base (210 000) pays 5 bil to get to the leet lvl 4 mission running that $1 050 000 000 000 000 isk consumed by players pursuing the most lucrative way to play eve - wanna bet the mission runners dont recupe this thru repeated farming - Not all missioners make it to lvl 4, but CCP has designed it so if YOU want to run lvl 4's efficiently you have to pay them $250 bucks. Why WOULDNT they make it more lucrative than any other profession?. This is what keeps their profits rolling, this is what pays for research and new development for the game this is what makes them more money than any other current EVE career ... mining - 6 months 300 mil tops lets say - piracy ... one month because most pvp for the kicks - if you get serious at it then of course you pay more - but they are all drops in the money bucket compared to what the missions bring to CCP in real life.
This is the actual reality of the economics of EVE.
And I'm just a construction worker ... most of these figures are my opinion based on what I have read, feel free to correct me wherever, but the bottom line is the same ... CCP makes their profits from mission runners, and wont harm this in any way. It works as intended.
